The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars has named Khurram Husain as the new Pakistan scholar. Husain will research the political economy of reform in Pakistan for nine months starting September 3, 2013.

WASHINGTON: The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Washington D.C., in collaboration with the Fellowship Fund for Pakistan (FFFP) has announced the appointment of Khurram Husain as the Wilson Center's new Pakistan scholar.

Husain, a business and economic journalist working in Pakistan, will spend nine months in residence at the Wilson Center beginning September 3, 2013, working on a book on the political economy of reform in Pakistan over the past two decades.

Husain has written for numerous media including The Express Tribune and his current affiliations include Dawn newspaper and the BBC. He has also taught at the prestigious Lahore University of Management Sciences.

He will succeed Dr. Simbal Khan, the Wilson Center's 2012-13 Pakistan scholar. During her stay at the Center, Khan worked on a book looking at US Pakistani security ties since the 9/11 attacks.

The Pakistan Scholar Program is the center point of the Wilson Center's Pakistan initiative. The fellowship competition is open to men and women from Pakistan or of Pakistani origin.

Applications are accepted from individuals in academia, business, journalism, government, law, and related professions. Candidates must be currently pursuing research on key public policy issues facing Pakistan, research designed to bridge the gap between the academic and the policymaking worlds. - APP
