ISLAMABAD – Tariq Fatemi, former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs has withdrawn a complaint filed with PEMRA against News One TV.
As a result, the regulator withdrew its show-cause notice it issued to the channel.
PEMRA said Thursday it took the decision after the Foreign Office informed them they had no intention to pursue the matter any further.
News One had reportedly made defamatory comments against Fatemi in its program Live with Dr. Shahid Masood.
Dr. Masood alleged that Fatemi had ‘fled’ the country with ‘lots of dollars’. The comment went on air on April 22.
