ISLAMABAD – The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) has condemned an attempt on the life of journalist and columnist Mazhar Barlas whose car was intentionally targeted.
According to a press release issued by RIUJ, Barlas was injured in the attack. The release did not say who the perpetrators were, what their motive was and when the incident took place.
The union has called for immediate arrest of the attackers.

For publishing a news item criticizing the arrangements made at Polo Ground for Eid prayers on 14 April 1958, the Morning News daily of Karachi was ordered to furnish a security deposit of Rs3000 by the Karachi Commissioner, NM Khan.
