ISLAMABAD – The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) has condemned an attempt on the life of journalist and columnist Mazhar Barlas whose car was intentionally targeted.
According to a press release issued by RIUJ, Barlas was injured in the attack. The release did not say who the perpetrators were, what their motive was and when the incident took place.
The union has called for immediate arrest of the attackers.

On December 25, 1952, The Evening Times (later Times of Karachi) published a front-page editorial and a cartoon accusing the government of plunging the country into chaos. On December 30 Z A Suleri, printer publisher Khurshid Alam, and cartoonist N.M. Katpal were arrested on charges of sedition.
