ISLAMABAD – The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) has condemned an attempt on the life of journalist and columnist Mazhar Barlas whose car was intentionally targeted.
According to a press release issued by RIUJ, Barlas was injured in the attack. The release did not say who the perpetrators were, what their motive was and when the incident took place.
The union has called for immediate arrest of the attackers.

Three progressive periodicals - Savera (edited by Zaheer Kashmiri), Naqoosh (edited by Ahmed Nadim Qasmi) and Adab-i-Latif (edited by Mirza Adeeb) - were proscribed by the Muslim League government of Punjab for six months in 1948.
