ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Wednesday approved a complete ban on airing of Indian content on satellite television channels and radio starting October 21 from 3:00pm.
The decision came after the government responded to a summary the authority had sent to it earlier. The government gave the watchdog complete authority to decide on the matter. As a result, PEMRA announced the cancellation of one-sided rights given to India during Pervez Musharraf’s government.
A PEMRA statement warned that violators of the ban will have their licenses suspended without any show cause notice being issued.
