ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has okayed suspending transmission of Neo Television in case the channel failed to air an apology and pay the required fine by May 26.
This was decided in a meeting of PEMRA Authority held in Islamabad Monday. PEMRA slapped a fine of Rs100,000 on Neo on May 11 for airing social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch's remarks against the Pakistani nation. These went on air in the program 'Ajeeb Sa' on April 10.
Neo did not respond to PEMRA's show cause notice issued on April 11.
Monday's meeting was chaired by PEMRA Chairman Absar Alam.
