ISLAMABAD - A journalist was gunned down in Punjab's Lodhran district by unidentified assailants Wednesday for supporting a couple who had married for love.
News reports said that Ajmal Joyia, 36 was on his motorbike with his friend when gunmen, also on bikes opened fire. Police said, Joyia was attacked in the Kehror Pucca area by five men on three motorcycles. They opened fire indiscriminately. Joyia received six bullets while Hassan received two.
The two were rushed to the Kehror Pucca DHQ Hospital where the journalist succumbed to his injuries. Hassan still remains in a critical condition, reports said. An FIR has been registered.
