ISLAMABAD: National Bank of Pakistan has seized bank account of National Press Club following orders of Islamabad High Court.
The court also stopped the club from functioning on a petition filed by Abdul Waheed Anjum who has sought separation of Rawalpindi and Islamabad Press Clubs.
At the moment, National Press Club Islamabad is also running all affairs of Rawalpindi Press Club as the latter has got no elected body to manage its day-to-day functions.
“Manager Operation, NBP informed that they after receiving order of the court have already seized the account. However, he seeks time to submit reply and relevant record,” says the court in a written order.
“No other respondent appeared. Learned Standing Counsel has also not been instructed by the respective department/ministry. In these circumstances, operation of NPC is hereby stayed till next date of hearing,” the order reads.
