ISLAMABAD: Journalists unions have demanded of Inspector General of Police Islamabad to quash a “fabricated and false case” registered against a journalist in the I-9 Police Station.
In a statement on Monday, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, National Press Club and other unions said the police have registered a false case on complaint of a Capital Development Authority officer Asia Gul against Fida Khan, a reporter with daily Metro Watch.
“Asia Gul and her husband have been threatening the journalist of dire consequences for publishing stories against them. Fida Khan has got all the proof of the threats and they would be revealed at a suitable time,” the statement said.
The unions have urged the IGP to quash the case against the journalist forthwith, otherwise a protest would be staged against Islamabad Police.
