ISLAMABAD: Denmark will provide $2.5 million for a two-year media program that will help improve the skills and safety of journalists in Pakistan.
“The media is a backbone of democracy and the voice of marginalized communities. It has to be fair, balanced and free in order to be a force for democratization and stability,” said Ambassador Sorensen on Friday at the launch of the ceremony.
The project will be implemented by International Media Support (IMS) which will work together with several Pakistani media organizations.
The new media program will improve the skills and safety of journalists in Pakistan's provinces, and help develop a consensus code of conduct for the entire sector.
