ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Television (PTV) has started working on modernisation of its digital broadcasting that is necessary under international obligation.
The government has allocated Rs200 million for the pilot project and is hopeful the process will be completed by June 30 this year.
A source in the state-run channel told JournalismPakistan.com that test run of the digital transmission may start from the second week of April.
The Digital Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcast (DTMB) is an international obligation for Pakistan under the ITU standards and initially the PTV booster in Murree is being upgraded.
“The upgradation will result in improvement of the PTV’s technical qualities like sound and screen manifold,” he said.
The system would be upgraded throughout the country in light of the output of the pilot project, he said.
