ISLAMABAD: The Democrats swept the Karachi Press Club elections Saturday for 2015 winning all seats. Fazil Jamili was elected president. According to a press release, Jamili bagged 458 votes while his opponent Anwer Sen, representing Progressive Panel, got 324 votes.
Alauddin Khanzada was elected as the secretary by getting 541 votes whereas Ayub Jan Sarhandi bagged 291 votes. Nawab Qureshi won the vice president seat polling 507 votes while his rival from the Progressive Panel Meraj Fatima got 316 votes.
Muhammad Hanif Akber won the slot of treasure and Rizwan Bhatti was elected joint secretary.
Likewise, Hina Mah Gul, Tariq Abul Hasan, Sajjad Abasi, Kafiluddin Faizan, Syed Agha Karam Ali Shah, M Siddiq Chaudhry and Manzoor Chandio were elected as members of the governing body.
A total of 850 out of 1131 registered voters exercised their right to vote.
