PESHAWAR: Sajjad Tarakzai, Peshawar Resident Editor of Daily Nai Baat has quit after developing differences with the newspaper’s owners over staff salaries and halting of fuel allowance to them.
An insider confirmed that Sajjad resigned a couple of days ago. However, it could not be known if his resignation was accepted by the management.
Sajjad had been making efforts for enhancement of staff salaries but the managers paid no heed. Nai Baat’s Peshawar office has 15 staff members including nine reporters.
The paper had also stopped paying fuel allowance to employees that ranged from Rs5000 to Rs10000 a month which apparently complicated matters and led to Sajjad parting ways.
