BHAKKAR—Haseeb Gondal, a Bhakkar-based journalist, was brutally beaten up for allegedly reporting against the local police.
President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Afzal Butt, condemned the torture and urged the chief minister Punjab and the inspector general of police to take notice of the incident.
In a tweet, Freedom Network also condemned the inhumane act by stating, “Local journalist #HaseebGondal is subjected to inhuman treatment after his reports on alleged malpractices in police in Bhakkar district. #FreedomNetwork calls on @OfficialDPRPP chief to bring perpetrators of this crime to justice at the earliest.”
According to Punjab Police, the accused who tortured Haseeb Gondal was arrested by Bhakkar Police. Reportedly, the accused had a personal dispute with Gondal.
