KARACHI – A senior sub-editor at The Express Tribune was picked up at Karachi University by men in plain clothes and investigated for an hour before being released.
The paper reported that Fawad Hasan was taken away shortly after he attended a condolence meeting for MQM-London leader Dr. Hasan Zafar Arif, who was found dead in Karachi last week.
Hasan confirmed the incident, saying: “Journalists should not be manhandled.”
The paper said that journalist Arshad Yousafzai claimed Hasan was asked not to cover such seminars and conferences.
