Have you ever read something that is stunning in its simplicity and so damn deep?
Read this:
You know you are old when you are no longer considered dangerous, a threat, a challenge or someone to reckon with.
The spent bullet, the has-been are different. In them is reflected envy and bad manners and you hope their party is over but there is always that fear they might bounce back. Yesterday’s man may become tomorrow’s boss. But when it’s done and dusted and the comeback trail leads to the cliff of anonymity and you are not dangerous and you are not a threat then that’s something so final.
What a horrible feeling, no one out there is afraid of you in anyway. What could be possibly more vulnerable a state? Like not one person out of 6 billion. Like a crazy game of musical chairs the music has stopped. For you. Grim but so accurate. You don’t count. Yes, that’s when you are old.
