Their housemaid has up and left. Told them she had a better job, more money, and goodbye, take care. They are gob-smacked because she was part of the family, had been with them four years, total trust, she had the keys to the cupboard, knew where the money was kept, the kids liked her.
Now this. Talk about ingratitude, after all they did for her. They tried to stop her with emotion. Said we gave you so much love, like made you a family member, how can you just walk away.
I never asked for love, she said, that was your decision, your choice, you wanted to give me love, thanks but it has nothing to do with the business, I work for you and you pay me and that’s it, love was optional.
She went a step further. When Sir goes to work they do not talk about love, he joined the new company because he was getting more money, and so what is the difference? The folks he was leaving never said don’t go, we gave you love or whatever, they just let him go.
It was a career move. So I am making a career move.
They don’t get it. How many of us would?
