LAHORE: Roznama Dunya has unceremoniously fired 36 employees in Lahore, among them reporters and desk staff.
Reports say when the staffers turned up for duty, they were not allowed to enter the office. “It was very rude of them,” one of the sacked reporters remarked.
The newspaper, a publication of the Dunya Group that also runs Dunya Television, was launched in September last year.
Last week Dunya Television laid off 12 employees from their Lahore office reportedly to make way for new people signed up on hefty packages. Among those sacked were assistant producers, translators and others.
