ISLAMABAD: Veteran journalist Iqbal Riaz passed away Saturday morning in Peshawar after a prolonged illness.
He had an experience of over 65 years in print journalism and was recently attached with Daily Mashriq as a columnist.
The Express Tribune reported Sunday the journalist was an active participant of the Pakistan movement and was later best known for his struggle against Ziaul Haq’s martial law.
Riaz also spent numerous weeks in prison on charges of supporting the Pakistan National Alliance against Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
He was buried Saturday evening in Peshawar.
