KARACHI – The Supreme Court Monday dismissed an appeal by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) seeking cancellation of bail granted to Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh, CEO of software company Axact.
The court upheld the decision of Sindh High Court that had granted bail to Shaikh and 13 others in a fake degree selling case.
The court questioned the logic of keeping Shaikh in jail for over a year and said if no evidence could be produced for 100 years would that mean the accused be kept in custody for the same number of years.
Shoaib Shaikh also heads the BOL Media Group. His troubles began in May 2015 after a New York Times story claimed Axact was involved in selling fake degrees worldwide.
