ISLAMABAD – Electronic media watchdog PEMRA has told the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) to resolve the issues journalists face in their organizations including delay in disbursement of salaries.
PEMRA Chairman Absar Alam (pictured) informed a delegation of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ-Dastoor) Thursday that any increase in commercial air time to channels would be linked to easing the problems journalists face.
Alam told the delegation the channels had been given a deadline of June 15 to ensure that only 12 minutes of advertisements are run in a single hour.
Journalists’ job security was also discussed in the meeting.
The RIUJ delegation thanked the chairman and praised his efforts for clamping down on sensationalism in electronic media.
