ISLAMABAD – Express News Television has been asked by PEMRA to explain why a swear word was allowed to go on air during their regular transmission on August 24.
In a letter to the channel’s CEO, PEMRA said the lapse occurred during the airing of a news conference by PML-N leader Ameen Afridi. It said this was a violation of the Code of Conduct for electronic media and also violated certain PEMRA laws.
The watchdog said that despite repeated directives to television channels to have delay mechanisms installed, it seemed they were not paying heed.
The channel has been given until September 1 to explain why it should not be fined or its license suspended.
