ISLAMABAD: Mohsin Ali of The Nation has been elected unopposed as the President of Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) for the third term running.
In elections held at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Shakir Abbasi of NaiBaat/NEO TV was elected Secretary, and Nasir Abbas Naqvi of Daily Ausaf as the Treasurer. Abdul Mohi Shah, representing The News was retained as chairman. Outgoing Secretary Abid Malik, chaired the annual general council meeting of RISJA that had the presence of 33 out of 38 members. The meeting was convened to elect the new body.
Malik presented the annual report before the general council. Chairman Mohi Shah informed the house about RISJA activities and sought their suggestions on whether to conduct fresh elections or to support the panel designated with the consent of senior members.
He proposed the names of Founders' Panel which were unanimously approved by the house.
The office-bearers: Mohsin Ali (President/The Nation), Ayaz Akbar Yousafzai (Senior Vice President/Geo TV), Mohsin Ijaz (Vice President/ Channel 92), Zahid Khawaj (Vice President/NNI), Arif Mehmood (Vice President/Akhbare Khyber), Shakir Abbasi (Secretary/Nai Baat/Neo TV), Nasir Abbas Naqvi Finance Secretary/Ausaf), Rana Tanveer/APP and Raja Sohail/Daily Pakistan Joint Secretaries.
Faheem Anwar Khan, Nawa-i-Waqt was chosen as chairman executive committee with members being Shahryar Khan, Afzal Javed, Gabriel de Souza, Abdul Jabbar Faisal, Abid Malik, M Shafique Raja, Zeeshan Qayyum, Nauman Maqsood, Wafa Abbas, Abdul Qadir, Shah Khalid, and Rizwan Ahmed.
