ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rashid Friday assured journalists the issue of sacked BBC reporters would be taken up with the relevant authorities.
Speaking on the floor of the House he said: “We will discuss the issue with concerned department and regulatory authority and would also convey them the feelings and sentiments of the journalist community.”
The minister said sacking of nine reporters by BBC Pakistan without any reason is totally unjustified.
“The whole journalist community in Pakistan is in sorrow, grief and anger over the action of the BBC-Pakistan management.”
The minister said Pakistan’s laws and the country of broadcasting organization do not allow such practice.
He was of the view the journalist community should be given job security to help them perform their duties without any fear.
