PESHAWAR – The Khyber Union of Journalists has called on the provincial information department to stop advertisements to news organizations that cut jobs.
President KhUJ Fida Khattak chaired a meeting in this regard which also condemned the layoffs and the casual attitude of the owners.
The house demanded implementation in letter and spirit of a resolution passed in favor of the journalist community by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
The resolution linked government payments for advertisements to media houses with the reinstatement of laid-off workers.
The meeting warned that if adverts to TV channels and newspapers that terminated staff were not stopped within three days, the union would take drastic steps.
The union constituted several committees for the smooth running of its affairs.
