The bill also allows for payment of Rs20,000 to family members of a journalist who is killed or to a journalist in case of death of his family member as funeral charges.
A similar amount will be paid for medical treatment of a journalist or his family member. A journalist who becomes permanently disabled due to any reason will be paid Rs200,000. However, once a journalist is compensated he will not be entitled to claim further compensation under any other law in force, the paper said.
