ISLAMABAD: A journalist filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court Friday seeking stay order on holding of National Press Club elections scheduled for December 17.
Ali Sajjad Shah,pleaded that the court order formation of a committee comprising senior journalists to scrutinize the list of the club’s council members.
He has made president NPC, its secretary, the governing body and the election committee as the respondents in his petition which has been accepted. The court is likely to issue notices to respondents Monday.
The petitioner works with the Urdu-language Al-Sharq newspaper. He was denied council membership and has accused the club president and secretary of awarding membership to those who are not working journalists.
