ISLAMABAD: Fawad Ali, a reporter with The Express Tribune, was beaten black and blue Thursday by a driver and conductor of a public transport wagon at Zero Point.
The incident took place when Ali and other commuters protested against the driver for not completing the designated route.
“The driver and his conductor started abusing me for the protest and this ultimately turned into a full-blown scuffle,” Ali told JournalismPakistan.com.
The reporter’s nose got broken when he was hit in the face with an iron rod. “I am stable now but want the police to register an FIR against the culprits,” he said.
The Aabpara Police have impounded the vehicle and arrested the driver and conductor but FIR is yet to be registered.
“We are waiting for the medico-legal report from Polyclinic Hospital and a case would be registered as soon as we receive it,” a police official said.
