ISLAMABAD – Television analyst Dr. Shahid Masood, banned by the electronic media’s regulator for 45 days for casting aspersions on the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, has said he named no names in his program.
“I never named any Chief Justice of Sindh High Court neither sitting, retired or in fact even anyone related to any Chief Justice of Sindh High Court or for that matter any other province,” he said in a letter to PEMRA Chairman Absar Alam.
PEMRA on Wednesday banned Dr. Masood who appears in the current affairs program Live with Dr. Shahid Masood on ARY News.
He wrote that it was evident from his show’s video clip that no names whatsoever were taken.
Dr Masood said the authority’s orders were “based on nothing but sheer assumptions.”
In case the authority is unable to present a proof to back its decision, then the decision to ban his show should also be reverted along with an apology, he wrote.
The program that landed the doctor in trouble was aired on June 22.
