ISLAMABAD – BOL News, the channel callously brought down by a group of media heavyweights last year, has dusted itself off and is now aiming for a formal launch on December 25.
Insiders tell JournalismPakistan.com brisk preparations are on for taking that major step of switching from test transmission to the regular one – when there will be no room for errors and experiments.
It will be a big day in the life of the troubled channel that has seemingly learnt its lesson well enough – in the Pakistani media industry it is not always fair play.
Indeed, a few of the industry’s big boys played foul, conspiring to prevent BOL going on air in 2015, its CEO and several senior managers landing in jail for 15 months, as a result.
However, things have now changed for BOL and apparently all seems well. Some prominent names have joined the team, others will be joining soon, insiders say.
There is some unease among industry rivals as BOL readies for launch. It is the channel’s financial might that worries competitors.
