ISLAMABAD: Pakistani journalist Faizullah Khan, jailed in Afghanistan for entering that country without valid documents, has been freed.
Faizullah of ARY News Television was sentenced to four years in prison by a court in Jalalabad in July. He was detained earlier in April.
The news of Faizullah's release was welcomed by journalists unions, including the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and also by the Pakistani government.
Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed thanked the Afghanistan government for releasing Faizaullah. He also appreciated the foreign office's role and that of Pakistani media organizations.
