ISLAMABAD — Television channel 24 News has terminated Sajid Mughal, their correspondent in Malikwal, District Mandi Bahauddin reportedly following pressure from an influential political figure.
Mughal recently broke a story on Muhammad Khan Bhatti, secretary of the Punjab Assembly – an audio in which Bhatti can be heard swearing at a police official.
After that story aired, Mughal’s house worth Rs5 million was forcefully occupied, and four false FIRs registered against him.
He told JournalismPakistan.com that his organization served no show-cause notice on him and did not hear his point of view. “They terminated me without citing any reason.”
